Horseback Riding
The Methow Valley of Washington State is one of the most beautiful places in the country to ride horses. Sun Mountain Lodge near Winthrop has the horseback riding program for you! Choose from hour and a half trail rides, all day private rides, Cowboy Dinners, or Cowboy Breakfasts.
Trail rides are offered daily from late April through October. Saddle up with one of our wranglers and see the beautiful vistas around Sun Mountain Lodge including the Beaver Pond, Patterson Lake and Mt. Gardner. Feel the city stress melt away as you are carried along on the soothing rhythm of your horse’s gait.
Our Cowboy Dinners are a special treat for the whole family. They are offered mid-May through mid-October, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights, with additional Monday night dinners during July and August. Be transported by horseback or horse-drawn covered wagon out to the old Hough homestead for a memorable western barbecue. The dinner typically serves barbecue steak and chicken, country fried potatoes, cornbread or biscuits, baked beans, corn on the cob (when in season), vegetables, salads, homemade dessert. Not only will you find a great dinner, you will feel like you’ve stepped back in time to the late1800’s when the first miners and ranchers arrived in this area.
