Meet Nicky Krost
Having graduated from Ephrata High School in 2005, Nicky Krost grew up in the agricultural hub of the Columbia Basin. With the support of her family and the abundance of fresh, local ingredients she began developing her appreciation for delicious food. It was nights with her mother and Uncle John where Mrs. Krost realized she could express the love and care for her family through cooking. Immediately after graduation, Nicky attended the Art Institute of Seattle.
While finishing her Culinary Arts Degree, Mrs. Krost interned at Seattle’s renowned Il Fornaio. There is where she found the next two loves of her life: her husband and fellow chef Tyler Krost along with exquisite wines. In her pursuit of continual growth, Nicky went on to undertake a supervisory position at the Grand Hyatt. Having grown her career, life’s next adventure led to the welcoming of her son. Shortly after, a fortuitous opportunity arose at the Cave B Estate Winery and Resort. For three years, the chef duo operated a kitchen focused around farm to table and food pairings to accompany the estate vintages.
Spending mornings strolling through the vineyard, admiring the process from start to finish, Nicky’s appreciation for the beauty and complexity of wine deepened. One day, another serendipitous opportunity presented itself in the Methow Valley. After a brief visit, Mrs. Krost fell in love with the beauty of the outdoors, the people and of course the wine cellar at Sun Mountain Lodge. Blending her love for the culinary arts, wine and people, Nicky forged her next path to spread her knowledge and love as our Wine Steward.
“My love for food and wine is due to the social aspect of sharing the experience with my family and friends.”
