About Us

Welcome to Sun Mountain Lodge, Washington State’s premier resort at the edge of the wilderness.

We are extremely proud of our Lodge and the Methow Valley and look forward to the opportunity of sharing our home with you.

Sun Mountain Lodge is committed to contributing to the economic vitality of our community. We are the largest private employer in the Methow Valley. When the Lodge was rebuilt in 1989, we used local craftsmen. The majority of our room furniture was created right here in Winthrop, including all of the stone and metal work with the exception of our chandeliers. For those we needed more rain than we experience here, so they were specially constructed and rusted to perfection in Seattle.

The crown jewel of our resort is our food and wine program. The Sun Mountain Lodge Dining Room is one of very few Washington State resort dining rooms with the coveted AAA Four Diamond Award. Our wine cellar has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Wine Restaurant of the Year and Wine Growers Appreciation Award. The wine cellar boasts over 3,500 bottles of primarily Washington wines, many of which are unavailable outside the wineries.

Our dining program is farm-to-table based. The majority of our in-season fruits and vegetables are grown right here in the Methow Valley and North Central Washington. We contract with many local and regional farmers. Chickens used by our kitchen are organically raised. Our hamburgers and  charcuteries are house-made from local organic beef–quality guaranteed. You will find house-made pickles, sauces, desserts, and other great delicacies waiting to please your palate.

The Lodge is surrounded by a myriad of hiking, biking, cross country skiing, and snow shoe trails. Spring flowers are abundant.

A mile down the road are the Patterson Lake Cabins, our waterfront property accessible to all guests.  Enjoy relaxing on the beach, swimming, boating, sailing and fishing. Cabins have full kitchens and are ideal for family reunions and groups.

We look forward to serving you and helping make your stay memorable, and hope you will become a member of our extended family.

Warm regards,

The Staff of Sun Mountain Lodge
